Sonia Addision -
Instructor

Sonia has tons of energy and enthusiasm, and she bounces everywhere. She bounced from Seoul to Europe to America and Japan before finally landing – on both feet and with bent knees of course – in Singapore, just over 6 and half years ago.
Everywhere Sonia has been, she has taken exercise very seriously. She has been to gyms, studied all kinds of classes, and had different personal trainers – but only in Pilates has she found a discipline that is serious about studying the way our bodies move. Although she still believes it’s important to work out hard and push yourself, this shouldn’t be done at the expense of your posture and balance.

“Studying Pilates has taught me how complicated our bodies are,” Sonia says, “such as the connectivity between small muscles that support the bigger muscles that we think do all the work. It has given me more of an appreciation for moving correctly, with balance and striving for perfect form. It has also made me realize how important it is to strengthen under-used core muscles and stabilizers, as these are key to protecting from over-stress in other activities.”

She still understands the desire to put in a tough workout – and bounce around – but now knows that doing this is safer, and much better in the long run, with a properly balanced body. “And it’s great to be able to share this knowledge with other people who love to exercise too – which is what I get from teaching at The Moving Body,” she adds.

Ana started her journey with Pilates when she joined The Moving Body as a Customer Service executive in 2011. Whilst here, Ana has witnessed clients that have come in with movement and body alignment issues and after some sessions, they had better posture and felt better moving. This prompted Ana to try out Pilates and she noticed the difference in her body. She realised how Pilates can help an individual tone up, build a strong body and mind. This motivated her to embark on her journey to become a Pilates instructor. As an instructor, she would like to help to clients have a better body awareness that leads to improved body movement and reduce the risk of getting injured.
Hwee Kheng has been actively involved in movement most of her life. She started Pilates over 10 years ago to help with her lower back pain. Her regular practice in Pilates, as well as the GYROTONIC® method, together with all her other training, not only helped strengthen her core and back, it also helped her move mindfully which is important to minimize injuries and effectively recover from one. She is grateful that she can continue to do many things she enjoyed and to try new experiences and challenges (including aerial arts) that she probably would have difficulties with when she was younger! This philosophy and approach carries over to her work as an instructor – she enjoys working with and coaching clients to move more mindfully and effectively, so that in turn they can be better in dealing with their life challenges. She had experiences working with clients with shoulders, back, and knee issues to help them strengthen and improve from pain.
It is easy to attribute Wany’s expertise to over 10 years of industry experience; but in reality, it is due to her personal belief that the key to a good life is moving well. Her approach to exercise is fuelled by this principle of fundamental movement and drives her to create personalized, targeted plans to unlock movement potential in her clients. She pulls from her extensive and constantly growing knowledge base – she is a graduate of sports and exercises science, certified in varied Pilates techniques (Balanced Body, STOTT, Gyrotonic), TRX, endurance and Bootcamp training, and precision nutrition among others. The results speak for themselves, as her clients experience holistic improvement in their strength, flexibility, and pain levels. She also enjoys conducting group classes both high intensity or low impact. Wany’s classes are as challenging as they are fun. Recognised by Nike for her skills and energetic vibe, she currently holds a Master Trainer role in SoutheastAsia. She conducts training in the region and is a consultant for the SEA team for program modifications. Wany is always looking out for new perspectives and techniques to include in her teaching arsenal. In her free time, Wany dabbles in various sports, yoga, and meditation. Her life’s work is centred around ageing gracefully to live independently without pain, for herself and the community.
