Riesal is a manual therapist who believes in studying various modalities and one should not limit his or her knowledge to just one school of thought. His work primarily affects the fascial network of the human body. Recent research has shown that fascia does not only limit to the superficial sheaths of connective tissues. The term ‘fascia' now encompasses the musculoskeletal, nervous, visceral and dural systems. His main manual therapy trainings are in Structural Integration, which is popularly known as Rolfing, and Myofascial Release. Rolfing, created by the late Dr. Ida Rolf, helps to bring the human bodily structure back to alignment in relation to gravity. Myofascial Release (MFR) was popularized by American physical therapist, John Barnes. MFR employs sustained pressure over a broad contact with the tissue.

Riesal is also trained in other modalities to treat the musculoskeletal structure such as Neurosomatic Therapy (NST) by Paul St. John, Functional Range Release (FRÒ) by Dr. Andreo Spina and Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) by Chris and Ann Frederick. Besides treating tissues with hands, Riesal is also trained to use Kinesio Tape, developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase, and Tecnica Gavilan (IASTM), developed by Gary Lang, as alternative modes to treat the tissues. He is constantly on an ongoing learning journey in learning about the human body and various approaches to treating it. His current interests include learning osteopathic methodologies such as Visceral Manipulation, Neural Manipulation, and Manual Articular Approach by The Barral Institute and Cranioscral by both The Upledger Institute and Milne Institute.

Riesal believes in holistic approach in treatment and healing and we are energetic beings. As a certified Reiki (Usui method) Level 2 practitioner, he believes that energy work is a perfect complementary work to the other modalities that he uses. He comes from a movement background having completed his 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification and registered with the Yoga Alliance. He is also trained in Pilates, CoreAlign and GYROTONIC® Level 1. He is currently an official disciple of Nam Wah Pai Taijigong under Master Sim Pern Yiau.
