Nienke's journey into Physiotherapy started as an athlete in track and field. This led her to pursue a degree in Physiotherapy and then complete her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy.
She started her career in private practice before moving into a hospital setting. Nienke first worked at the University Hospital in Groningen (UMCG) followed by the University Medical Centre in Amsterdam (VUmc). Both busy and well-known hospitals in Holland. While working in these hospitals, Nienke gained extensive experience in acute and post-surgery rehabilitation, and sports rehabilitation. Here Nienke worked with various specialised medical professionals as she provided outpatient services to clients with varied sports injuries ranging from amateurs to professional sportsmen.
In her spare time Nienke still likes to be on the track, working out, or working as a volunteer. Although she does not see herself as an elite athlete, she was allowed to throw the javelin during the Singapore Open in 2016. She also plays golf and of course, being a Dutch native, she loves to ride a bicycle!
